I had a routine mammogram scheduled for today, at a place just a little past my office, so I rode my bike there, then to work, and I’ll ride my bike home and the time will add up to about an hour. The reason it shouldn’t even count is because I already ride my bike to and from work rather frequently, and I never count it as cross training on those days. Oh well. A somewhat lazy day here and there won’t kill me. As I was getting ready to type that, I realized I didn’t want to type the words, “won’t kill me,” realizing that this whole marathon training thing is so that I don’t die prematurely in the first place. So now, having a lazy day here and there, within a marathon training program, won’t kill me, but having more and more of them will, combined with going nuts over Halloween candy and visits with family and friends and parties and the holidays… So, although one lazy day won’t kill me, I have to stay alert that stringing lazy days together is what kills people and I must avoid that.

Turns out, I didn’t even ride my bike home. I had a crisis call that kept me at the office about an hour past when I meant to go home and Jon got worried and came up to the office to check on me. Since he was already there and would have to go home anyhow, I did just decide to throw my bike in the back of the truck and take a lift home. Now I worry, is that my second slip for the day or am I just being reasonable and realistic? Hard to say. Only time will tell, I guess.

This was so much of a breeze it’s almost not even fair to count it.
