It looks like I will have to just get used to the idea that I must stop briefly, just about every mile, on these long runs, probably including the actual marathon. I am not particularly happy with that, but it seems to be about the only way I’m gonna “Git ‘er Done.”
Also, I was once again not able to keep my speed up on this long run. I was supposed to be shooting for roughly 6 mph, actually 5.92 mph, but I only averaged 5.6 mph. That seems to be about par for the course for me and long runs. If I actually do the whole marathon at 5.6 mph, that puts me at a finish time of 4 hours, 41 minutes which would be way better than my 4:59 goal, so I guess I won’t complain too much at this point and keep hoping for my speed on long runs to either go up, or at least not drop lower.
