I had a little debate with myself this morning – try to run this on the ground, or go to the gym and use a treadmill to keep me truly up to speed. I started to feel sorta cocky, like I could do it on the ground, but I eventually opted for the gym.
Then, when I got to the gym, it wasn’t even open! I thought it was a 24-hour gym, but I went to work and checked the website and it doesn’t open ’till 7am on weekends. Holy crap, was I actually at the gym BEFORE 7am?! What is wrong with me?
It was really hard to go back to the gym in about another half-hour when it finally opened so I could do my lousy 2 mile run, but I did it.
It didn’t take me very long to ramp up to 6.7 mph, but I probably did it a bit too fast because it wasn’t long into my run that I felt I wasn’t going to be able to keep it up the whole time. I struggled and fought it and eventually got the two miles in, but it was a challenge. Ugh, I hate these speed runs, but I’m fairly sure it’s what’s improving my overall performance, so I know I’m gonna have to keep them in my schedule.
