Today I tried to play catch-up. My scheduled workouts have been getting a little bit mixed up and some have been skipped or modified, and I don’t want to get completely off track during my final few weeks of training, so I tried to see, today, which workouts I have all missed, and see if I could get one or more of them caught back up.
I went to the gym today with a plan to try to catch up on three runs – a 2-mile at 6.7 mph, a 5.4-mile at 7 mph, and a 1-mile at 7.5 mph. The only one that I did ‘clean’ that I can truly ‘claim’ is the 1-mile at 7.5, so that’s what I’ll call today, but I actually did a whole lot more than that.
I did do 2 separate miles, each at 6.7, but did not do them continuously. There was about a .10 mile break between them. That’s not too bad. I’ll call it good enough to redeem my performance in Sierra Vista.
I also did a number of spurts at 7 mph, one for 1-mile, one for a 1/2 mile, and one for a 1/4 mile, but again, there were breaks in between those efforts.
I ran or walked a total of 8.16 miles today, in an hour and a half.
I have four days left this week and I definitely have to do my long run. I should take one rest day, leaving me two more workout days. One should be a speed run, since that particular workout continues to menace me. I’ll shoot for 5.4 miles at 7 mph. My final workout for the week should be a hike and hopefully, I will be able to catch up for several past canceled cross-training sessions by having a nice, long hike.
