I was totally off my training plan by this point and I had only been away from home 2 days. I had lost the note I wrote myself about what runs I should do, I was overeating and having lots of junk foods, and I wasn’t monitoring my weight. Plus, Wisconsin in October is COLD! However, I managed to get myself dressed for my run and have my Favorite Cousin, Michelle, tell me a good place to go running, so I set out with the goal of just running 3 miles at whatever speed I could and calling that good enough as long as none of my toes froze and broke off.
I found Scout Lake by her directions, which was a little surprising to me since we shared the same directionally-impaired Grandfather, but the leaf-covered path around a little duck pond was a perfectly delightful run and I managed to rack up more miles than I was supposed to, at a faster pace than I needed to, doing 4 miles at an amazing 6.4 mph, which probably also explains how I managed to get back to Arizona after a Wisconsin Butter-Burger / Frozen Custard / Trick-or-Treat / Wedding weekend without really gaining a whole bunch of weight.
