DAY FORTY-SEVEN – CROSS TRAINING – TWO HOURS

About every two months, I attend a 2-day seminar in Scottsdale and I like to ride my bike there because it’s about an hours’ ride and whenever I ride to somewhere, I always have to ride back home, so it’s like getting double the exercise without having to think about it too much.  Plus, there’s a nice long rest in between the two rides, so it doesn’t actually seem like I rode my bike for two hours.  And, actually, today I didn’t.  The ride in did take me about an hour.  I averaged about 10 miles per hour and the meeting is about 10 miles from my home.  However, on the way home, it was dark, and I noticed that my headlight was not up to full charge, and I figured that it would go out on me on the way home, so I rode as fast as I could to minimize the time I’d have to ride in the dark.  Of course, it went out while I was riding through a park area that has no street lights, so that was pretty exciting, but no harm came of it and I made it home in an unprecedented 48 minutes.
