DAY FORTY-SIX – EASY – 2.9 MILES at 4.5 MPH

I’ve become almost absolutely convinced I must have made some enormous error in laying out my training schedule, because today’s run was just ridiculously easy. First of all, there’s no way I was going anywhere near as slow as 4.5 mph, and I was even concentrating on not pushing myself. My average speed for this run was 5.5 mph, despite all my best efforts to let it go as low as 4.5. Next, the 3 miles just melted away effortlessly. The only time I really looked at my GPS was when I was watching for the half-way mark so I would know when to turn around. And, in fact, I was pretty far from home when I hit my 2.9 mile goal and I kept jogging for a while just to put me closer to the house before slowing down to walk a bit for my cool-down. I actually ended up with 3.11 miles, which is exactly 5k, and my time was 34:02, which is actually a very good 5k time for me, which makes me think maybe I’m not doing something wrong, after all. Maybe I’m just getting stronger and faster. Now, that would be very cool!
