DAY SIXTY-FOUR – SPEED – 2.6 MILES AT 7 MPH

Today was supposed to be a rest day, but since I had skipped a run over the weekend, I decided to catch up by taking a return visit to Scout Lake.

I figured out how to use the lap feature on my GPS and I timed myself doing laps around the lake. I was somewhat dismayed to find out that a half-mile trip around the lake only took like 4 1/2 minutes. I was disappointed that that much work would only take such a short amount of time. I had already decided I’d do 4 laps and see how long each one took.

Lap 2 was slightly slower, at 4:31 and Lap 3 was identical. I kicked it up a notch for Lap 4 and hit 4:25. By then, I was good and warmed-up, so I decided to take one more crack at it and did another lap in 4:18.

With the jog to and from the park, the total mileage was 4.01 and my average speed was 6.3 mph, although I definitely was doing 7 mph or better on each of the laps, so I’m gonna say I totally killed this run!
